Spark Starter Kit: Rails, Spree, React, Webpack + Hot Reload and more

This week, thanks to the hard work of our CEO Damian Legawiec, we have open sourced our very own kick-off bundle which we use as a starting point for all eCommerce and Rails related projects at Spark Solutions.

The starter-kit is available on GitHub and should be very helpful not only to Spree developers, but to anyone who is seeking a reliable platform for a scalable online store. Quick and easy setup makes the repository a remarkable ready-to-develop foundation, which is packed with all of the newest technologies shortening time-to-value for your client or yourself.

Slack Integrations Guide: GitHub, Pivotal Tracker, Circle CI, Heroku, Rollbar

Slack is a great messenger app and a collaboration tool for teams that we at Spark Solutions are using on a daily basis for our internal and external communication purposes. It reduces email clutter and makes our working life simpler, more pleasant and at the same time more productive – as advertised.

What is also nice about Slack are broad possibilities of integrating external software development and project management tools with Slack channels.

Question: What platform is best for a scalable eCommerce solution with 10M+ registered users? It’s Spree Commerce.

Ecommerce site operating at this scale (10 million registered users) would be so custom and so complex with several intertwining hardware and software solutions that you wouldn’t call it WordPress, Joomla, Django, Magento or anything else anymore.

Question: What is a good open source eCommerce platform to stock and sell more than 10,000 SKUs?

Spree Commerce is such an open-source e-Commerce solution. We’ve built a marketplace hosting over 3 million SKUs based on heavily customized and optimized Spree Commerce and a farm of 15+ dedicated servers (load balancers, cache servers, http servers, app servers, database servers and so on). It handled over 15.000 requests per minute in external load tests / DDoS simulation.
